Countries are becoming more and more similar because people are able to buy the same products anywhere in the world.

Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Our modern world has been changing and reshaping by the global economy over the last few decades; therefore, human beings consume similar products worldwide. In this essay, the positive and negative sides of this phenomenon are argued by presenting real-world experiences and examples.

To begin with, there is no doubt that people are able to buy anything they want owing to developed shipping which bounds the different lands to each other. Moreover, online shopping, which allows people to reach diverse products from the comfort of their homes, is not a negligible factor for evolving global economy. These two main conditions have provided that similar consuming preferences are shared by completely different countries in terms of religion, territory, and population. However, there is still an argument on its possible pros and cons.

To continue with, high-quality or affordable accessible products regardless of where they are produced can be beneficial for everyone. In detail, nowadays, people can drive made-in-German cars, wear Italian-designed outwear, or buy China-made products at reasonable prices. In other words, every community can have the same standards of living because of the global economy which can supply anything to every country.

The opposite side is also remarkable to argue because it is obvious that there are some detrimental effects of this event on nations. For example, if a particular country does not produce the products it needs and imports everything from different countries, it is inevitable that this country’s consumer preferences, culture and more probably life style of its nation will be changed by different cultures and products of different communities. Unfortunately, this country will be dependent on other countries and, in the end, it may be controlled by foreign countries.

In conclusion, it can be understood that there are several advantages and disadvantages of reaching the same products worldwide. Countries should keep the delicate balance between producing and affording products without any dependency on other countries.
