Learning a second language has become people’s crucial necessity over the last few years due to globalization. Nowadays, the majority of human beings from different geographical territories and educational backgrounds are willing to learn and speak foreign tongues because they notice that the second language is immeasurably beneficial to their social life and business careers. In this essay, it is aimed to discuss the reasons behind learning a foreign language.

First of all, it is undoubted that more people, these days, immigrate to different countries in order to either work, study, or find new opportunities. Therefore, speaking a foreign language by a face-to-face interaction with locals has become an obligation for people who desire to live abroad. Secondly, to obtain a remarkable career, workers have to speak different languages to deal with representatives of international companies, which can also create new job opportunities for them. Last but not least, tourism in a mass form is a great factor to encourage individuals to learn foreign languages which belong to the most attractive touristic countries such as Spain, Portugal, and Italy.

From another perspective, some people argue that learning a different language has numerous upsides not only for tourism, immigration, and business; but also for culture and social life. With wide use of the internet, people can communicate with others from other countries easily and freely to make new friends or to broaden their horizons about different lifestyles in different zones. Additionally, in my opinion, it cannot be completely sensed cultures of communities without learning the languages of these nations.

In conclusion, mankind is willing to learn different languages for several reasons including tourism, work, immigration, and social needs. From my point of view, the benefits of a second language are not limited to only travel or work, so it is obvious that the impacts of foreign tongues on our lives are more than that.
