The graph below shows the unemployment rates in the US and Japan between March 1993 and March 1999.

Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below


The given graph compares the joblessness rates in the US and Japan from March 1993 to March 1999. Overall, as it is observed from the given line graph, the rate of unemployment in the US decreased gradually over time while this rate in Japan climbed significantly in the process of years.

As it is presented above in the line graph, it can be seen clearly that in 1993 unemployment rate in the US was exactly 7.0 percent and after 6 years, this rate declined steadily to reach almost between 4.0 and 4.5 percent, which shows the improvement of the US. On the contrary, in 1993, the worklessness of Japan was about 2% but it kept on increasing over the years and in 1999, this percentage jumped up to almost over 4.5%. Interestingly, at the end of the given time period, the higher unemployment rate belonged to Japan by a little margin.

In summary, the data reveal that the US managed to control unemployment rate better than Japan did in 6 years. Moreover, in 1999, Japan had more unemployment problem than the US did.
