Some people think that secondary school children should study international news as one of the school subjects. Other people think that it is a waste of valuable school time. What do you think?

International news have become more important in today's global world. Due to this fact, some people consider that the international news should be one of the school subjects in secondary schools. I believe that it is a convenient way to keep teenagers updated on daily global events.

In modern life, we can access the news easily and quickly thanks to the internet. However, secondary school students use the internet generally for social media, games or homework. Generally speaking, new generation is not interested in politics, geography and economy very much. They do not care about something that is not related to them but they can not see the relationships between the events that happen in all corners of the world and them. I believe that it is like a domino effect. To illustrate, if a country does not take any precautions against the environmental pollution, it may affect the whole world. If we are able to change teenagers' perspectives and increase their awareness, they can easily be better on the other school subjects like math, science or history.

On the other hand, studying international news in secondary school is a tender matter. What and how should be taught is extremely significant because news is commonly biased. We should select the convenient ones and we should teach students how to eliminate and comment them properly. Additionally, there are many news that contain violence, for instance wars and abuses. Nevertheless, new generation comes across with violence online, as well and we can solve this issue by augmenting their awareness. Although teaching global news in secondary school level has some tough laboring, I believe that it is crucial.

To sum up, some people think that international news should take a place in secondary school curriculum and I agree with them. This practice can grow youth's recognition and as a result they can focus on global problems and fabricate solutions. Nonetheless, it is a sensitive topic that we should study on carefully but it is worth trying.
