In the last 20 years there have been significant developments in the field of information technology (IT), for example the World Wide Web and communication by email. However, these developments in IT are likely to have more negative effects than positive in the future.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Information Technology is considerably developing in the field of internet in the last 20 years. No doubt, these advances can have some detrimental effects on people's lives in the future. However, in my opinion, there will be more positive sides than negative ones.

The first advantage of information technology is that with the development of information technology we have possessed a lot of facilities which people could not even imagine. It has made our life easier and faster and even less costly. For instance, people prefer to buy stuffs online because of the fact that they do not want to waste their time in stores. This may happen because these products can be cheaper and more reliable. Another important fact is that people can communicate with each other at any place. There are many applications for having a talk online. You can access any program which is free. As an exemplification, whatsapp, telegram and facebook are some of these applications which generally serve having chats and video calls online. From my point of view, with the help of information technology, the internet can provide convenience in every field.

Despite these positive developments, the internet also can present some negative effects to people, especially for the new generations who spend more time on video games or videos. Some video games can lead children to be out of their minds. A case in point, there is an online competition which affects the teenagers mentally if they lose games. As a result, they can have bad relationships and connection with their families or friends. To illustrate, my friend always plays ranked games and when he is beaten consecutively, he loses himself and wants to continue playing until he reaches his previous level again. This leds him to cut his relationships with us and prefer to be alone.

As a consequence, in the sector of IT, there are incredible several things you can learn if you use it wisely. However, for some people, it could be addictive when it is used mindlessly. In my opinion, it has more positive effects on young people and it will help them widen their horizon in the future.
