In the last 20 years there have been significant developments in the field of information technology (IT), for example the World Wide Web and communication by email. However, these developments in IT are likely to have more negative effects than positive in the future.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge.

In the recent twenty years, it has been seen that information technology has influenced people's lives with gigantic alteration, along with many advantages in this field. Although these technological advances bring about many benefits to the world, I believe that these developments in information technology can result in negative impacts more than positive effects.

It is argued that on the positive side, email is one of the ways of communication, especially with abroad. It is easier and faster than letter. This provides mostly benefits for trade, state and private business as it decreases time of waiting for months for letters or it prevents taking time sending message and faxes when compared to past times. Moreover, the World Wide Web provides resources and knowledge about every subject and it is always accesible for people. For instance, people can hear about news and get information about online education, useful courses, information of transportation and control systems. These developments have made life quite simpler and more productive.

On the other hand, the impressions of this new information technology have not all been advantageous. To illustrate, many people have idea about the prevalent use of email annihilates traditional ways of communication such as letter, fax, handset and peer to peer communication. Therefore, these changes in technology can bring people's communication skills related to basic abilities to an end in the course of time.

In addition to these, usually Website has come to mean that it is hardly controlled by regulations. This has given rise to children's mislearning some information by means of unsuitable websites. Unfortunately, these problems can get worse and barely get better in the future as long as the same problems remain unsolved.

In brief, even though improvements in information technology have engender many benefits, in my opinion, it has quite more downsides than advantages. Later on, people will need to be supported to use the internet properly. In addition, it will be required to protect themselves against unedited websites.
