Young people are often influenced by their peers. This is called peer group pressure. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?
It is a widely known fact that in a developing country, a majority of young adults are frequently impacted by their peers. Some people argue that, nowadays, most of young adults are impressed by their friends who are almost at the same age, with similar passions and tastes. However, others claim that the influence of peers may draw their attention to use drugs and burglary in the negative side. It seems to me that peers have pros and cons, which I would explain in the forthcoming paragraphs.
On one hand, it is true to say that human body tends to imitate others. First and foremost, people can learn suitable and helpful things from their peers. Moreover, thanks to the new advancement of technology, a great number of teenagers are imitating beneficial things and qualities of others, such as learning new language, starting to play video games, or copying their ambitions like competing with classmates to get high score. As a matter of fact, in recent time, most of students and teachers compare themselves with rivals, because they are willing to become in high position and gain popularity. For example, when I was in university, most of my teachers and classmates were competing with one another due to the impact of their peers.
On the other hand, others believe that every rose has a thorn, and peer pressure can have some drawbacks on our current world. The impact of peers not only sparks off economic issues but also may even lead to suicide. What is more, I witnessed many times on TV programmes a lot of new generation sacrificed themselves as a concequence of following their peers. In addition, a bright student at school might perform poorly in studies owing to wrong peers group or getting bullied by peers. For instance, today a majority of teenagers drop out their education and start gambling, use drugs, and commit burglary.
When it comes to the conclusion, in the light of these notions, young people are highly affected by peers and invest themselves in different situitions. Peers could be priceless or worthless. As far as I am concerned, peers have their own strenghts and weaknesses in our lifestyle.
