Although more and more people read news on the internet, newspapers will remain the most important source of news.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Reading the news in the internet is still considered to be less prominent than reading the traditional newspapers by most people. I completely disagree with the idea that newspapers will still remain the significant source of news. I support my opinion with reasons and examples in this essay.

Firstly, online messages will provide up to date information. Further, newspapers are printed one day before and therefore they can publish information accordingly. On the other hand, online data is updated frequently, which help them to provide the accurate and latest news to the readers. For example, all top leading news portal in Turkey update the news related to the COVID-19 cases and economic data about bitcoin, gold or stock market in their breaking news every 10 minutes and publish it on their websites. As a result, the public, especially young people, opt for the latest news, instead of yesterday's news. On the other hand, digital news is usually free of charge or some websites are very affordable compared with the monthly subscription cost of papers. Recently, the prices of newspapers have increased considerably due to the hike in the costs of paper production. Obviously, it tends customers to switch more to their online mode.

On the contrary, some populations, particularly the aged ones, still use newspapers as the main source of information. One of the reasons behind this is that they may feel difficulty in accessing the social platforms and they are not convenient in using them. Another reason is looking at the screen of technological devices for a long time can cause some serious problems with eye, specially for the old readers.

In conclusion, while conventional newspapers could still be an excellent source of information, I believe that online news will eventually win the hearts of readers in a foreseeable future because of their updated news and affordable cost.
