In spite of the advances made in agriculture, many people around the world still go hungry.
Why is this the case? What can be done about this problem?
Agriculture is considerably modernized with the developing technology from day to day, but most people still live on the breadline in the world. This situation arises from many reasons, and the two most influential of them are definitely ‘global climate change’ and ’civil war’. Solving these problems is only possible with the cooperation of international organizations and governments.
Firstly, as a result of global climate change, a significant drought problem is seen all over the world. Drought adversely affects productivity in agriculture despite new technological developments in agriculture. And for this reason, the production rate of main nutrients is reduced by almost half. Therefore, unfortunately, many people, who live in dry regions, are experiencing a critical nourishment shortage at the present time. Another reason for the world hunger problem is ‘civil wars’ in countries, without any dispute. Numerous specialists argue that three quarters of society live in a place in which civil war took place before suffering from hunger. As well as many agricultural areas are damaged during the wars, almost all of the government's resources allocated for nutrition are transferred to the war. As might be expected, this situation also causes starvation for people, just like many different problems.
Secondly, starvation can bring about many troubles, and each of these is a critical problem for humanity. Thereby, governments and international organizations must make more effort to avoid hunger in the world. International organizations should raise awareness on ‘the result of global warming’ and ‘the damage of wars’ on an internationally scale. The governments of developed countries along with the cooperation of international aid organizations must assist the hungered countries.
In conclusion, unless hunger is prevented all over the world, it will inevitably lead to more substantial problems with the passing years. From this point of view, regardless of where the hunger is, all other countries should unite to help countries suffering from hunger. There are many international organizations working on this issue in the world, but unfortunately they are not enough to prevent starvation.
