Some of the methods used in advertising are unethical and unacceptable in today’s society.

To what extent do you agree with this view?

Advertising is one of the main means of informing the consumers on the world wide web, in games, on TVs and even on the billboards at the streets. Different communication techniques of advertising are used to influence the public in many ways. I would tend to agree with the idea that many adverts contain some unethical and unacceptable methods .

First of all, there is a doubtless fact that we cannot escape from psychological effects of advertising. People tend to be influenced by good or bad factors around them. Especially, watching many commercials in a row for a short period of time negatively affects our ability of concentrating on our tasks. Many slogans, fabricated words of advertising can adversly affect us in our daily lives. We see the differences between the products in our hands and the ones in the advertising. The products that we buy may make us feel being cheated.

In addition, slim bodied, bright skinned models are often used in the adverts. It demonstrates that women only have some kinds of perception in terms of beauty. However, there are a lot of beautiful women who have freckled, fat bodied, black skinned and more. The advertisements can make fat people believe that they are uglier than the other women. All people experience visible physical changes. This is unchangeable law of nature that we should be aware of this factor and love ourselves. However, because of the wrong adverts fat people are excluded with a sense of lonelies from society due to the fact that discrimination and racism may increase all over world.

To sum up, it is obvious that advertisements use many strategies to manipulate our perception of reality for their own benefits. In my point of view, we must be concious consumers against the strategies used in advertising.
