Grades encourage students to work harder at school.

Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Nowadays, despite a long history of traditional education system, the standards of education in every school of the world still evaluate students' success through the grading system. I totally disagree with the claim that grades motivate students to study harder and as a result be more successful. I will support this assertion by two main reasons in this essay .

Firstly, the existent education system today, forms students' future careers because in this system, grades are so important that it makes parents do their kids' projects, homework, and copy the summaries of books from the internet. Additionally, students have to memorize the school subjects superficially rather than learning them by heart. In fact, the most important goal of the learners is not to learn the school matters in this system, but rather it is to get as much high grades as possible. For instance, when I was a sophomore, I was given a sculpture assignment in the fine arts class. Furthermore, I had to finish it in a week because I took the lesson by getting a good mark. However, I was terribly busy due to the fact that I had to do a range of projects with a great diligence. Thus, I halfheartedly wanted my friends help, and they made my sculpture assignment at just one night. Finally, the professor appreciated that assignment very much, and he gave me a pretty high score in that task which I did not even touch.

Secondly, families exceedingly put pressure on their children to succeed at school. These achievements are mostly measured by grades. Most of the time, they compare their children’s scores with the scores of others, which naturally leads to a dramatic drop in the students’ motivation. To exemplify, when I was a high school student, I had a friend who although studied hard from morning untill midnight for the Math exam, she unfortunately got a low point because she forgot what she had already memorized. She knew that that lesson was very important to her father who was also a Math teacher and she was so upset that even I did not prevail her up to work harder again. Her father had been calling her a number of times because he was made at this sitation. I wished he had called to lift up her soul, not to be angry with the result.

In conclusion, students' main needs are a road map to teach them how to study and how to be brave, rather than paying attention to their grades at school. Therefore, I absolutely disagree that grades make pupils study harder at school owing to the fact that grades not only make students head for wrong ways, but also reduce their motivation by causing their families to put more presure on them.
