Computers are now the basis of the modern world. They should therefore be introduced into classrooms, and their programs used for direct teaching purposes. However, dependence on computers in teaching may carry a certain degree of risk to students.
Discuss both sides and give your opinion.
Recently, the use of computers in the classrooms and applying teaching methods based on computers have been controversial subject. While some people believe that computers are necessary and must be used in classrooms, other people argue that using computers have some negative effects that cannot be ignored. My opinion in this discussion is that computers are an integral part of education today, and therefore computer use should be produced more ergonomicly considering the physical health of the students.
There are several reasons advocated by people who support the use of computer programs for direct educational purposes. For instance, they will help students become computer illiterates as well as they can teach them how to use computer to do researches. In addition, they can have positive effects on the learning process. For example, it would be very beneficial to use computer programs in direct education, especially in the pandemic period today. Besides, the introduction and use of computer programs in schools cause students to use their after school time more efficiently. To illustrate, computers and the internet make it easy for them to continue their research at home.
On the other hand, there are concerns associated with excessive use of the computer. In particular, it is stated by the authoreties that the physical health of children using computers during their working hours at school and at home will be adversely affected. Furthermore, the exposure of students to blue light originating from the computer screens during their education process arouses worries about their eye health. Another negative view that cannot be ignored in the use of computer programs for direct teaching purposes is the possibility of students being exposed to cyberbullying in this process. That is to say, exposure of students to advertisements with negative contents while using computer programs via the Internet can lead to their distractions and as a result failure in their school activities.
In conclusion, it is true that computers are an indispensable part of the modern world. For this reason, I think that they should necessarily be introduced to classes and some smart programs are needed to be used in the direct teaching purposes. Though they might have some negative impacts, in my opinion, the inevitable disadvantages can be mitigated by schools and family interventions.
