Based on the given information from the reading and listening parts, the reading passage is describing the general facts about the Easter Island while the speaker in the listening part is informing us about a theory that contains what might happened in the island.

According to the reading passage, the Easter Island is located in the South America. The reason for why this ısland is called The Easter Island is because a Dutch explorer discovered this place first and named it after Easter Sunday. What make this island special is that there is lots of statues; however, there was not any sign of civilization. The stone figures look like warriors and there are hundreds of them. The mystery is that no one knows who made them.

The speaker in the listening part is talking about a theory about these statues that scientists mostly believe but still they are not sure about it. According to this theory, there might be ancient people who lived here. And this explains who made the stuctures. But even if it is true, the question is what made them disapear all of a sudden. Scientists think that there might be some outsiders who arrived in the island on boats and brought some unknown diseases wtih them. But it is still just a theory out of many theories. As a conclusion, we can say that no one knows exactly what happened in the island and the statues in the Easter Island are still keeping their mystery.
