The information presented in both reading and listening passages is about the ostrich's defence styles. The reading passage is informing us about a traditional and unproved story based on literature from ancient Romans, and the speaker in the listening section talks about scientific knowledge regarding the defence system of this animal.

According to the reading passage, the ostriches are the largest birds in the world and they can weigh up to 350 pounds but they can not fly. According to a story from ancient Romans, when the ostriches face with a danger, they bury their heads in the sand. This means that the rest of their bodies is still in danger.

In the listening part, the speaker says that the ostriches actually do not burry their heads in the sand in a dangerous situation. They have really strong defence skills. First of all, they have really amazing hearing and seeing abilities which are stronger than these kinds of abilities of most of the other animals and which give them more sensitive senses. Their other ability is that they are great runners mostly because of the height of their legs. Their speed can go up to 50km per hour. Lastly, when they do not have the chance to escape from a predator, they can use their powerfull kicks. Dependent on all of this information, we can easily come to the conclusion that the story presented in the reading section do not seem to be true story.
