The given table chart illustrates the percentage of students attending four different types of secondary school from 2000 to 2009. Overall, it is seen that the proportions of community schools increased over the years. In contrast, the percentage of students who attended other types of schools declined in the years between 2000 and 2009.
Firstly, it is clearly seen from the table that in the year 2000, the attendance of voluntary-controlled schools was just above half. This type of school was the highest attended school by students in 2000, but in 2005 its rate declined under two-fifths and gradually decreased to 20% in 2009. Specialist schools and grammar schools’ proportion of attendance by school children also nosedived in the years between 2000 and 2009.
In a sharp contrast to other three types of schools, the percentage of school children who attended community schools increased over the years. Specialist schools and community schools’ proportions of attendance were same in the year 2000. However, specialist schools attendance level dropped to 11% in 2005 and 10% in 2009, whereas in the years between 2005 and 2009 community schools attendance climbed to 32% and 58%, respectively. As shown in the given table the most attended school in 2009, was the community schools.
