More and more students are choosing to study at colleges and universities in a foreign country.

Do the benefits of studying abroad outweigh the drawbacks?

Nowadays, more and more students tend to go to other countries to study at colleges to find better opportunities after graduation. While this movement has some drawbacks, this trend brings about more benefits than the drawbacks.

On the one hand, there are several drawbacks of going abroad to study. Firstly, the language barrier can cause problems. Students have to prove their English proficiencies by presenting some certificates such as IELTS and TOEFL accepted by universities. Secondly, learners have to find accommodation and pay the bills. Although many universities ensure student apartments on campus for them before they enroll in universities, most of them go through some difficulties in finding someplace. Furthermore, even if universities accept them, they tackle some issues with paperwork, like visa applications, which leads to extra expenses for students, causing them to afford the costs barely.

On the other hand, qualifications gained abroad can open doors to better job opportunities. For example, before the last term of graduation, students can contact companies to be accepted by internships so that they get better practice related to their jobs. Many firms are prone to stay in touch with many students. Additionally, overseas students are exposed to different cultures and customs. Universities are accepting more and more foreign learners day by day, leading them to become more international insititions. Therefore, students can enhance their abilities about their professions by studying with students from different countries. Moreover, living in a foreign country can broaden students’ horizons, which helps them to become experts not only in their fields but also in their business lives.

In conclusion, although there are some views that students have some challenges living abroad, I would argue that in the future, students will wish more to study abroad and to gain numerous advantages and opportunities for their future careers.
