People increasingly spend their leisure time using computers, for example surfing on the internet or playing computer games. This has brought benefits but has also created new problems.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Computers have become one of the most common communication items in our life with the advancement of technology. Nowadays, people spend most of their leisure time on the internet, telephones and tablets. I agree that using technological devices can inevitably bring some benefits along with their unavoidable damages.

Firstly, computers are the easiest and fastest way to access any kind of information we need. When we google something, we find tons of pages that include plenty of information and learn new knowledge. When we get bored in daily life, playing computer games becomes funnier and more exciting than doing usual things. That is why, people prefer to play computer games in their leisure time. Also, people meet their friends and relatives on the social media without actually meeting them thanks to the internet. It makes people more sociable.

On the other hand, although a usage of computer can increase our productivity, it can also be a lot waste of our time. For instance, we could be trying to learn something on the internet and see an interesting link, spending hours reading that page. Two hours later, we realize that we never achieved our original goal. Furthermore, we can be confused about all things that we see on the internet. Also, with the popularity of social networks and notifications, we can become easily distracted while we are trying to work. With all the possibilities available on a computer, it is easy to get obsessed and become an anti-sociable person. For instance, many online games are designed to be addictive, causing you to play the game rather than being with other people around you. This is the most common harm of using computer in leisure time.

To sum up, a usage of computer has both advantages and disadvantages. The development of information technology provides us with gathering knowledge without any effort. It can also bring us some harmful effects. Beside all these situations, I believe that we should use computers and all devices in the right time, in the right way and where they are necessary.
