Today, many people start to have a tendency towards having their own business. For this inclination, there are lots of triggers such as preferring freedom or flexible working hours. On the other side of the coin, having your own business brings about many drawbacks. In this essay the reasons for being self-employed and unfavourable sides of this preference will be examined.

First and foremost, the cause of running a business alone is limitless liberty for individuals. Nobody does opt to work under an authority and dependency on others because of the hierarchical structure of a business. For instance, if people have their own working places, they can have an exact right for determining their own schedule and spare time. Another reason for people who want to establish their own business is having their own initiative about organizing working styles. While working for a company, people are always under pressure because of discipline in the workplace rules and deadlines. However, if people are their own bosses, it is quite easy for them to plan their meetings or business traveling days and the style of these events.

When it comes to the drawbacks of being self-employed, what immediately comes to mind is how people can be sure about their exact incomes each month. The meaning of being a freelancer is accepting all of the risks related to the free market. Every self-employed person should take the chance that there is not any guarantee about regular earnings. In addition to this, every liability about work belongs to one person and this makes people nervous and anxious. Every single detail should be monitored by one authorized person and because of this situation it is a reality that one has to take on burdensome aspects of a work.

When it comes to the conclusion, it is an indisputable reality that being a freelancer ensures countless advantages to individuals, such as flexible working hours and determining style of running a business. Yet, from the other perspective, being your own boss is not always a good idea when the drawbacks of these issues are taken into consideration, especially in terms of burdens and risks.
