Should wealthy nations be required to share their wealth among poorer nations by providing such things as food and education? Or is it the responsibility of the governments of poorer nations to look after their citizens themselves?
In today's world, it is a known fact that some countries offer a better life conditions for its citizens than the others do. As a result, some people defend that these developed countries ought to support poorer ones with their wide range of sources such as food, shelter or education, but others believe that dealing with this issue is the duty of governments. In my opinion, wealthy nations should assist undeveloped countries only when in the times of scarcity or crisis.
It is true that countries which have a tremendous budget can readily provide basic amenities for poorer countries with their investments or charities. However, there is also another side of the story. If they can not properly plan and organize their expenditures on helpings, they can face poverty or insufficient supplies. Also, persistently giving possessions for having a better life to undeveloped countries might make them lazy to improve their conditions. As a consequence of this situation, they may always depend on other countries and might become exploitees of the developed countries. Therefore, it would be better if the leaders of the countries are responsible only for the needs of civilians in their own countries to keep their economy strong and to stay independent.
On the other side, I think that if a country is suffering from the deficiency of food, water or health metarials or fighting with a crisis, assistance from wealthy nations are essential for them to survive. For example, it is a fact that all of the countries in the world have been trying to cope with COVID-19 for almost 2 years and the wealthy countries are now in much better conditions compared with poorer countries due to their high budget on vaccine production. On the other hand, an immense number of people are dying because of the COVID-19 in the undeveloped countries. Besides, not only are poor nations negatively affected by its outcomes but also people living in wealthy countries are inevitably in the threat of breaking out the disease in their country again. For this reason, developed countries should necessarily provide sufficient aid in hard times for the governments of poor countries if they are to benefit the results of this cooperation globally.
In conclusion, while some people believe that governments ought to take all of the responsibilities to look after their civilians, others support the idea that improving requirements of poor nations should be compensated via resources of developed countries. In my perspective, the governments of poor nations have to take care of their citiziens by their own to be free and powerful; however, there are some exceptions for this such as the cases in famine and crisis.
