Without capital punishment (the death penalty) our lives are less secure and crimes of violence increase. Capital punishment is essential to control violence in society.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

There is no doubt that the number of violent crimes has increased to a large extent nowadays. A majority of people think that capital punishment should be implemented to reduce the crime rate. I certainly do not agree that the death penalty will decrease incidents of violent in society and I will discuss it further in the following essay.

Initially, putting someone to death is not didactic for the public. The capital punishment is an ephemeral solution for soothing communal violence because this retribution gives only trepidation. Fear fades away day after day but rehabilitating guilty people is a more permanent solution than executing them. For example, some countries such as the USA put the death penalty in their legal rules. Some states of the USA practiced the supreme punishment between1990 and 2016. The research results show that execution of people could not cut down the delict and violence. Contrary to this, countries that reintroduce perpetrator to society can drop their rate of crime.

Another justification, sometimes judges make an erroneous decision or people may cast aspersions on someone. Judicator and recognitor may look through blue glasses when it comes to guilty people, therefore, they cannot make an objective decision. According to the Amnesty International's research, since 1973, 160 of the 173 death sentences handed down in the USA were not executed because of the fact that people were innocent. Even worse, some incriminated people's guiltlessness was learned after they died.

In conclusion, punishment of death is not a convenient method for decreasing the rate of crime because it is not instructive and disincentive. Also, crimeless people may be killed for no reasons. The supreme punishment is a symptom of a culture of violence, not a solution to it.
