In the reading passage, the author states the definiton of galaxy and discusses their properties. In the listening, the speaker focuses on a typical galaxy which is highly essential for us.

The author expresses the definiton of a galaxy, which is a large group of stars. Then he discusses the numbers of stars. There are millions of galaxies in the universe. In order to name something as a 'galaxy', it needs to have billions of stars in it.

The speaker on the other hand, outshines the other galaxies and focuses on the most essential one. The reason why this special galaxy is highligted is that it is the galaxy where we live. It is called The Milkyway. The Milkyway consists of 1.200 billions of stars, and the sun is one them. The stars which we can see with naked eye are a part of this pile of stars. However, the ones we are unable to see without an effective telescope, are parts of other galaxies.
