Today the high sales of popular consumer goods reflect the power of advertising and not the real needs of the society in which they are sold.
To what extent do you agree or disagree ?
In the contemporary world, it is clearly seen that the proportion of purchasing fashionable merchandises is increasing every passing day with the remarkable improvement of technology and the advertising sector. From my perspective, in today's society high rates of sales do not actually represent the base requirements of the public but they are the manifestation of the real power of advertising and the following essay will elaborate on this issue and my considerations.
In the first place, advertising, or being more referred as marketing, have enormous contributions to persuading customers to buy pieces of stuff even though they do not need them. In other words, people purchase products based on the information that they gather from commercials and overlook their usefulness. Due to this trend, companies and some entrepreneurs generate income exponentially and by doing so, they could attain their aims which are nourished by funds. To exemplify, with the advancement of social media such as Instagram, influencers which are called the occupation of the new generation collaborate with promotion companies to establish their new noneffective goods for more making profit. As a consequence, the rising generation who depends on social media disburses their limited budgets in order to possess them.
On the other hand, although humans need certain fundamental substances in their ordinary lives, there is no much more need for advertisements or media to remind them to purchase those basic items. Whether or no, people desire to own the products as they are daily requirements, and nobody needs to drive the people into buying them. For instance, especially considering nurtures, they have enlargement in sales despite no advertising. This illustrates that the consumers influenced by advertisement crusades spend more money on popular goods rather than main necessities.
In conclusion, it is easefully observed that people are impressed by the publicity of companies or press which result in increased sales of consumer goods because of the developing of social media and technology. In my view, there is very few customers left who buy goods only based on their needs and not on sort of advertisements.
