In the presented materials, in the reading passage, how a wild boy from the forest spent his years among people after he was found was expressed and a theory that seeked for the reason of this boy's inability to learn well is provided. However, the listening passage challenges this theory and determines what could possibly happened.

In 1739, a boy was found in the forests of South France. This kid was showing some manners like an animal rather than a human. After some time, he was kidnapped and brought to Paris in order to make him live under the roof of an association and was taken care by a physician. After a while, caregivers realized that he could not learn like a normal person does. Especially, his hearing abilities and vision were not good enough. In addition, he ould speak only a couple of words. According to a theory, he had some mental problems and his brain was not functioning well. Additionally, it is also stated that the reason why he was in the forest may be due to his family's attitude to him when they realized that he was not a usual person.

The listening passage strongly contradicts the theory. In the listening part, it is mentioned that the theory that was presented in the reading part is not the only one and is not the one that is widely accepted. Indeed, it did not explain the story well. The contradictory theory claims that Victor was rather intelligent, but did not have any problem with his brain. It says that because he spent several important years in the forest, he had the ability to learn many things related to his forest life. This theory also states that the reason why this boy was not good at learning was that he missed the years that had importance in the area of learning from other people. Additionally, contradictory theory pointed out that even tremendously intelligent people may have these kinds of problems if others expose them to live far from the society.
