The reading passage generally gives us information about dozens of weird carved stone figures, which were on an island discovered by a Dutch explorer off the coast of south america. The island is called the Easter island due to its discovery which took place on an Easter Sunday. The carved stone shapes were mysterious because no one in sight on the island was in charge of carving them. Those carved stone shapes were constructed in different sizes. Such as some of them were only 1 meter high whereas others were much bigger in height.

The listening passage mentions a theory by the scientists who are not completely sure about the emergence of these weird stone shapes. The theory claims that the residents of this place were carving the figures. While the strangers with the boat arrived and spread a disease among them. Since the people of the island were not familiar with the diseases, it caused all of the residents' deaths.
