Accame accounting company

The reading passage explains a problem about the employees of Acme company and
some applicable solutions, and the listening passage discusses the same problem and a
possible solution and the final decision.

As it is understood from the reading passage, Accame Accounting Company had a serious
problem. This problem was that junior accountants came late to the job. In this way, each
junior lost time nearly on average one hour of work per day due to tardiness. The company
president who was annoyed by this condition asked the senior staff to crack through this
situation. Concerning possible solutions, one of the senior staff proposed that it had to be
play catch-up by lost time. According to this plan, if a worker arrived at work one hour late,
he/she had to work overtime in order to compensate. The other plan which was thought
about the tardiness was a salary deduction. In accordance with this plan, if a worker were
late to work , one hour's pay would be substracted from their salaries.

The listening passage explained the company president's attitude toward the given two
different proposals. The first advice was that workers stayed late to make up missed times.
According to the boss the first proposal was not a serious penalty. In fact, he thought that
that was more like a prize because workers could arrange their working hours at their will.
The second suggestion was that employees would lose a portion from their salaries for
any missed work. The president refused this idea because if this penalty was applied, the
company would lose valuably work. Finally, the president came to the decision to
implement both solutions together. Thus, the company president planned not only to solve
the tardiness problem, but also not to lose skilled labor.
