It is important for children to learn the difference between right and wrong at an early age. Punishment is necessary to help them this distinction.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
What sort of punishment should parents and teachers be allowed to use to teach good behaviour to children?
Children who do not improve their discernment have a hard time deciding between right and wrong. It may not be possible to explain some situations to children and sometimes it may be necessary to impose some sanctions. However, because of these punishments, children may have some problems in the future. For this reason, I strongly support the idea that children must not be punished by their parents and their teachers.
First of all, punishments for teaching young children can something lead to many psychological problems later in their lives. For example, these children can lose heart or lose one's self confidence. The fear of children which is called 'poinephobia' in psychology may cause difficulty in their decision making ability, a situation that may lead children to make wrong choices or might turn them into unstable ones. Secondly, children can lose sense of wonder as a result of these punishments, which ultimately can result in their lose of interest in learning.
Furthermore, when we teach children, we need to notice that rewarding them produces much better results than punishing them. In this way, they will learn the truth and will not prefer the wrong situations. Moreover, they will grow in self-confidence, which will lead them to success. Most of the time, it is a good way to praise children with some nice words instead of giving rewards, and in this way you can get the opportunity to explain the difference between right and wrong.
In conclusion, punishments given to young children can cause big problems in their later lives. I think rewarding and appreciating them rather than punishing them is a much better way to teach children something. Fear of punishment goes unnoticed but it always remain in the subconscious of children.
