People in all modern societies use drugs, but today’s youth are experimenting with both legal and illegal drugs, and at an increasingly early age. Some sociologists claim that parents and other members of society often set a bad example.

Discuss the causes and some effects of widespread drug use by young people in modern day society. Make any recommendations you feel are necessary to help fight youth drug abuse.

Legal and illegal drugs use is expanded dramatically in the modern worlds, and drug use is seen at a tender age nowadays. The main reason for this situation is thought to be the encouragement of families and other people who use drugs. In addition to social reasons, psychological reasons cause drug use at early ages. Young people who use drugs face many failures and health problems early in their lives.

Young people are affected easily by their social circle which may constitute parents, friends or famous people. Unwittingly, people who use drugs have a bad influence on the youth. In my opinion, even though incentive contents are banned in most countries, social media and the internet also tempt them to use drug. A good example of this is gang serials and movies. As well as social reasons, psychological reasons are highly effective to start the use of drugs at early ages. Feeling lonely and introversion are generally seen among young people. Needless to say, these feelings lead them to use drugs.

The drug use negatively affects human life in many ways. It causes failures in the school life of young people. In particular, the drug use causes a tendency to violence towards the environment. All of these lead to communication disorders and more serious crimes. Another effect of drugs use is serious health problems. Long time exposure to drugs can cause the death of brain cells and various cancers.

In conclusion, families, nongovernmental organizations and governments should take in charge to prevent drug use at a young age. The families must keep down their own children about social media and internet. As for nongovernmental organizations and governments, they should organize awareness training that are about the harms of drug use at school, and they can even hang posters on this topic. It is crucial to note that many bad habits start at a young age.
