In the reading section, the literature of the ancient Romans as well as the stories about the ostriches from the past are discussed. The listening section explains if this engaging story is true or not.

The reading section explains the traditional stories of gigantic ostriches. These birds look quite majestic and their appearances scare people. These spooky flightless ostriches are the largest birds in the world. According to this story, the ostriches bury their heads in the ground as an action when a danger approaches. When the ostriches bury their heads in the ground, they think that the predators do not see them. This method creates the perception that the ostriches try to protect themselves, which sounds stupid because every part of their bodies is visible except their heads.

In the listening section, the speaker talks about the intriguing story stated in the reading section and gives detail information regarding how they can actually defend themselves. According to the presented knowledge, they do not need to act stupid when a danger comes, because they possess three wonderful defense systems. One of them is their powerful hearing and seeing abilities. They are able to hear and see the danger long beforehand. Second, the ostriches run at tremendous speeds. When a danger approaches, they may have already gone. Finally, they have an amazing kicking ability that is never seen in other birds. It is especially true that they can knock off the attackers with their strong and damaging kicks.
