This graph represents the percetagees of the population aged 65 and over from 1940 to 2040 in three different countries. Overall, it is clearly seen that the proportion of the elderly population increased in the past and it will sharply continue its trend until the year 2040.

In the beginning of the period; namely the year 1940, the highest rate of this age group belonged to the USA with nearly 10 percent. From 1940 to 1980, the USA's records increased. After this upward trend, it turned to a decreasing inclination until the year  2020. However, the final data in 2040 shows that this country will have the lowest number of old people among the other countries. Sweden illustrates similar pattern. From 1940 to 1980, the rate of this group in Sweden rose nearly to 15 percent. Finally, after some fluctuations, it will end the period at its peak point with 25 percent.

Japan's proportion of the population demonstrated quite a different attitude from the beging of the period. It firstly followed a decreasing fasion from 1940 to 1980. But after this year, it started to present a climbing behaviour until the year 2030. In 2030, it is clearly noticed that will experince a jump and will finish the period with more than 25 percent which will be the highest rate of old people in its society compared with the rates in the other two countries.
